This is the worst DVD I have ever seen. It appears to have
been transferred from a videotape source. The quality is
equal to, if not worse than, VHS. The bitrate meter indicated
a very low bitrate, therefore higher compression and worse
picture. After being used to such high quality discs as "Saathi" and "Aradhana", this was such a disappointment.
Sound
The sound is just as bad as the video. An overall lack of
clarity coupled with hiss in the background plagues the
soundtrack of this disc. My LP and CD of the songs sound
much better.
Menu/Extras
The most sparse Indian DVD that I have ever seen. All of the
other discs that I have seen include at least a coming
attractions feature or titles also available. The only options
on this disc are "Play Movie" and "Song Selection". They actually misspelt the title as "Andhi." I am going to return this
disc. This will definitely make the "Titles to Avoid"list
that will be coming up later.
Cover Art
The cover art on this one is so bad that I just have to
comment on it. The front is grainy and looks like it was
made on an Inkjet printer. The back has a synopsis of the
movie, information about the disc, and the address and phone
number of LEO International. The sound format is erroneously
labeled as 5.1 channels. "Channels" is misspelt as "channer",
by the way. I had a feeling that this disc would be bad
just from looking at the cover and watching the disc confirmed
my suspicion.
Overall
Don't waste your money on this dud. Don't even rent it. The
picture and sound are horrendous and you might as well be
watching a VHS tape recorded in LP mode. "Aandhi" is the most
half-assed DVD that I have seen. I really wanted to have a
high-quality video version of this movie, but I have been
left bitterly disappointed.
