Movie
A remake of the tamil/telgu hit of the same name. A story about the
relationship between father and son and how the grandson manages to bring
them closer together.
I loved this film in tamil and in telgu but when I had heard that it was to
remade in Hindi with the Big B himself I literally hit my head on the
celling. When the film came out I wasn't too disappointed with it, although
the tamil version will remain a classic and the best version there is.
Video/Audio
This is a return partnership between the two companies video sound and super
digital who had separated from each other as video sound wanted to do thier
own DVD pressing. However after the release of janam saamjha karo and
aarzoo, both of which were of poor quality, people like myself protested and
boycotted the video sound films untill their were to go back super digital
to make the DVD a superior format again AND WITH THIS DISC THEY HAVE DONE
JUST THAT. Now it the turn of DEI and EROS!
I was suprised that this disc, which is single layed has manged to compress
177 of film time, no scenes were cut nor censored, on to a disc that can
handle only 150min. So how did they do it, by lowering the average bit rate
to 2Mbit/sec to 5Mbit/sec. There are no artifacts, picture colouring is what
you'd expect on a DVD and the cross colouring is on this disc at the minimum
effect, excellent. Even the sound which is 5.1 has no problem what-so-ever.
It sound fresh of the cinema DTS CD reels, if not sounding better. The
background score given by the south's own MD Koti is truly wicked to the T!
The only thing I didn't like was that the film wasn't presented in it
original picture format, but why complain when everything else on this disc
makes it a classic.
Overall
JUST BUY THIS DISC! its worth your money. Oh and welcome back Super
digital.
